Are the citizens entitled to their freedom in every sense of the word?


Greetings to all the esteemed citizens of Maldives- those living within the country and all over the globe, on the occasion of our 44th anniversary. Nearly four decades ago, on the 26th of July, 1965, the late former President Ibrahim Nasir (N.G.I.V) as head of state sought full independence for the nation. However, the question that is being asked nowadays is: are the citizens able to enjoy that independence to the fullest?
